How to Screenshot on Samsung: 4 Simple Techniques

What Is a Screenshot?

Wondering what a screenshot is or how to screenshot on Samsung devices? A screenshot is a digital image that captures the contents displayed on your device’s screen. It’s like taking a photo of whatever is on your screen at a specific moment.

Importance of Taking Screenshots

Screenshots are useful for saving information quickly, whether it’s a web page, an important message, or app details. They help users share visual information, document issues, or store details for later reference.

How to Screenshot on Samsung

Taking a screenshot on your Samsung device is easy and can be done in a few simple steps. Whether you want to save a conversation, capture a webpage, or share an image, Samsung offers several methods for capturing your screen. Below, we’ll guide you through the different ways to take a screenshot on your Samsung device.

1. Using the Button Combination

This is the quickest and most commonly used method to take a screenshot.

  • Navigate to the screen you want to capture.
  • Press the Power button and Volume Down button at the same time.
  • Hold for a second until the screen flashes, indicating the screenshot is captured.

2. Using Palm Swipe Gesture

Samsung devices also allow you to take a screenshot by swiping the edge of your hand across the screen.

  • Open the content you wish to capture.
  • Swipe the side of your hand from one edge of the screen to the other.
  • The screen will flash, confirming your screenshot is taken.

Note: If this feature is disabled, go to Settings > Advanced Features > Motions and Gestures to enable Palm Swipe to Capture.

3. Using Bixby or Google Assistant

You can also use voice commands to take a screenshot.

  • Say, “Hey Bixby, take a screenshot” or “Hey Google, take a screenshot.”
  • The assistant will capture the screen for you immediately.

This hands-free option is especially useful if you’re unable to use the button combination.

4. Scrolling Screenshot

If you need to capture more than what’s visible on the screen (like a long webpage or chat), Samsung provides a scrolling screenshot option.

  • Take a screenshot using the button method or palm swipe.
  • After the screen flashes, a toolbar will appear at the bottom.
  • Tap the Scroll Capture icon (a downward arrow), and your device will scroll and capture additional content.
  • Keep tapping until you’ve captured all the necessary sections.

Where Are Your Screenshots Saved?

Once taken, screenshots are automatically saved in the Screenshots folder within your Gallery app. To view them:

  • Open the Gallery app.
  • Tap Albums and select Screenshots.

Editing and Sharing Your Screenshots

Samsung provides built-in tools for editing your screenshots:

  • After taking a screenshot, a toolbar appears with options like Edit and Share.
  • Use Edit to crop, draw, or add text.
  • Tap Share to send it through email, social media, or messaging apps.

Screenshots are a convenient way to save important information or share content. By using these methods, you can quickly capture anything on your screen with ease.
