Apple Watch Series 12 is the thinnest Apple Watch yet, and the one that finally measures your heart properly. An all-new Health Sensing System reads your heart rate every five seconds in the background, and Siri AI now holds an actual conversation on your wrist.
Redesigned optical and electrical sensors give Series 12 what Apple calls the most accurate heart rate sensing in a wearable. Background readings arrive every five seconds — Apple counts that as 60 times more often than Series 11 — and heart rate variability is measured as frequently as every five minutes, 24 times more often than before. Blood oxygen, the ECG app, hypertension notifications and sleep apnea notifications all build on the same system.
Wear it overnight and you wake to a sleep score and a Readiness score that tells you how much capacity you actually have today, rather than pushing you to close a ring you have no business closing. The redesigned Health app adds Health Age, a single figure that puts your vitals in context over time. Cycle Tracking uses wrist temperature sensing while you sleep.
Ask a question in the way you would ask a person and Siri AI follows the conversation, using the S11 chip and a built-in microphone. Audio Intelligence adds Live Rewind for the sentence you just missed, Siri Recap for what happened while you were away, and Sound Recognition for the alarm or siren you did not hear.
Choose 46mm or 42mm, then aluminum in Dark Bronze, Light Gold, Black or Space Gray, titanium in Radiant Gold or Natural, or ceramic in Pearl White or Night Blue. The front is Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple rates 60 percent tougher than Ion-X glass. Battery runs up to 24 hours, or up to 38 in Low Power Mode, and 15 minutes of fast charging adds 12 more hours. Cellular models carry 5G, so the watch works when your iPhone is at home.
