Reporting Errors or Inaccuracies

Evaluation and Verification Process

Upon receiving a report of a potential error, our Corrections Department will:

  • Acknowledge receipt of the report within one business day
  • Investigate the claim thoroughly
  • Verify the correct information with relevant departments and/or Verizon
  • Determine the scope and impact of the error

We categorize corrections as follows:

  1. Minor Corrections: Typographical errors, minor factual inaccuracies, or unclear wording that does not significantly affect the meaning of the content.
  2. Major Corrections: Substantial factual errors, misleading information, or inaccuracies that could impact customer decisions or understanding of our products and services.
  3. Retractions: In rare cases where the entirety of a piece of content is found to be inaccurate or misleading, we may retract it entirely.

Publication of Corrections

Corrections will be published in a manner proportional to the original error:

  • For online content: We will update the original article or page with the correct information and add a clearly visible correction notice at the bottom of the page.
  • For print materials: We will publish corrections in the next available print run and, where feasible, offer corrected versions to customers who received the erroneous information.
  • For in-store displays: We will promptly update or replace any inaccurate signage or displays.

Timeframe for Corrections

We aim to address and publish all corrections as quickly as possible:

  • Minor corrections: Within 1-2 business days
  • Major corrections: Within 3-5 business days
  • Retractions: Within 1 business day of the decision to retract

Multi-Platform Correction Handling

We ensure corrections are consistently applied across all platforms:

  • Website: Immediate updates to affected pages
  • Social Media: Correction posts on the same platforms where the original information was shared
  • Email: Follow-up emails to recipients of newsletters or promotions containing errors
  • In-store: Staff briefings and updated materials provided to all retail locations

Archive Policy

We maintain an archive of all corrected online articles, preserving both the original and corrected versions for transparency. These archives are available upon request for a period of three years.

Staff Training and Accountability

To minimize errors:

  • All staff undergo annual accuracy and fact-checking training

  • Employees responsible for repeated or severe errors may face disciplinary action
