Founder and CEO
Richard ("Rich") Balot founded ABC Phones of North Carolina, Inc. (dba: Victra) in October of 1996 as a freshman in college. Under his guidance the company has grown from single store location to over 1,000 store locations across 46 states, and annual sales exceeding $1.5 billion. Victra has become Verizon’s largest exclusive premium retailer and Rich is considered a thought leader within the industry and among his peers. Rich is an active member in Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and on the local council board of the Boy Scouts. He also volunteers with numerous local charities, participating with his family. Rich holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from East Carolina University.
Rich is married and has four children. He enjoys spending time with his family; watching his children play sports and gymnastics.
Chief Administrative Officer
Eric Harkins began his career at Target Corp., and lived in Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado, and California his first six years after graduation. As a Store Operations leader, he helped open the fourth SuperTarget ever built in Mason City, Iowa. Making the leap from Store Management to Human Resources, he spent several years with the Mervyn’s division of Target Corp. and ultimately became Director of Stores Human Resources. He’s been Chief Human Resources Officer at Jack Link’s Beef Jerky and The Nerdery. Most recently Eric was President of Navigate Forward, a consulting firm based in Minneapolis.
Eric and his wife, Jennifer, have two children, Laurynn and Jack. Not too long ago, Eric and his family joined a karate studio, initially as a fun family activity. A few years later, all four of them became black-belts on the same day. His son is now a third degree black-belt.
Chief Sales Officer
Scott Tollett is the Chief Sales Officer of Victra, responsible for enhancing the company’s best-in-class customer experience and growing bottom line performance. He brings a results-driven, “front-lines” mentality with an ability to create a business climate that is fun, exciting, and conducive to achieving new benchmarks.
Most recently, Scott served as the Senior Vice President for Ritter Communications, an independent communications provider, where he delivered record-breaking sales achievements and improved customer satisfaction – 3 years in a row. In similar experience, Tollett has developed countless industry leaders and has earned top J.D. Powers “Customer Experience” awards as a leader himself with 2 different national wireless retailers.
Growing up in Arkansas, he started his business career as a sales representative in boutique retail stores before pursuing a degree from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. Sales leadership is both profession and hobby, as Scott is an entrepreneur, speaker and author on the subject.
He spends his free time outdoors and in the company of his wife Kim and three children.
Sr. Vice President - Merchandising & Marketing
Nathan Marlowe, Sr. Vice President at Victra oversees Supply Chain, Merchandising, Marketing, Business Development, and Value Added Programs. Marlowe joined Victra from Brightstar, a Global Distribution & Logistics provider of Wireless Products and Services, where he served as Vice President of Sales & Business Development for North America. At Brightstar, Nathan was responsible for all Sales Verticals across Emerging Wireless Categories, Wireless Accessories, and Value-Added Distribution Services. He joined Brightstar from HTC, Americas, a Mobile Handset OEM Manufacturer. Nathan served as National Sales Director overseeing the National Retail and E-Commerce channels.
Prior to HTC, Americas Nathan spent 12+ Years within multiple Wireless and Mobile companies to include Sony, Ericsson, and AT&T Wireless where he managed Sales across many different business units. He also served in the Air Force working within the Signals Intelligence sector. Nathan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. If you don’t find Nathan inside the building at Victra then you will probably find him on the golf course or supporting his Virginia Tech Hokies.
General Counsel and Sr. Vice President – Legal, Real Estate, and Mergers & Acquisitions
A native Chicagoan, Rob joined Victra at the beginning of 2018 and has 19 years of experience leading companies and private equity funds through high-stakes transactions, litigation, strategic decisions, and operational matters. Prior to Victra, Rob held executive and General Counsel roles at Tivity/Healthways, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, and a family-owned real estate development and construction company. Before moving to North Carolina in 2010 to go in-house he practiced corporate law at the Chicago offices of Kirkland & Ellis and McDermott, Will & Emery and was on Cooley’s Silicon Valley venture capital team. While attending law school at night Rob served as a legislative aide to former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson and as a law clerk to Robert Mueller at the U.S. Attorney’s Office. He received his B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1994 and his law degree from Georgetown in 2000.
Rob and his wife Katy have four daughters and live in Durham, North Carolina. Their family enjoys playing tennis, exploring the Carolina coastline, and hiking through Duke Forest with their two rescue mutts.
B. Clyde Preslar
Chief Financial Officer
Clyde Preslar is Chief Financial Officer of Victra. He has 16 years of public company CFO experience and before joining Victra, Inc. was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Dollar Express Stores LLC, a privately-owned discount retailer formerly part of Dollar Tree/Family Dollar. Prior to joining Dollar Express, Clyde served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for The Pantry, Inc., an $8 billion Fortune 500 convenience store operator. He has also held Chief Financial Officer roles at RailAmerica, Inc., Cott Corp., and Lance, Inc. Earlier in his career, Clyde served as Director of Financial Services for Worldwide Power Tools at Black & Decker and as Director of Investor Relations at RJR Nabisco. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Economics from Elon College and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Wake Forest University.
Clyde and his wife, Carol, have three grown children.
