March Madness: Don’t Miss a Beat

Are you ready to let the madness begin? March means flowers in bloom, longer days and action on the court! March Madness kicks off on Sunday the 13th and continues through the first week of April. As one of the biggest events in sports, the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball tournament has been around since 1939. That’s a long standing history with eager fans cheering for their teams. Whether this is your first year jumping into the fun or you’ve been filling out brackets for years, get your foam fingers ready, because we’re sharing a few pointers to make this year’s March Madness #1.

What is March Madness?

We’re so glad you asked! The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball tournament is a single-elimination tournament comprising 68 teams that compete for the national championship in seven rounds. You may be familiar with the Final Four, which is the penultimate round of March madness when only four teams are left. Now, we won’t know the full NCAA tournament bracket until ‘Selection Sunday’ on March 13th at 6 p.m. ET. This is the day that fans across the country eagerly keep an eye on the TV or their devices to find out who’s in and who’s out. The number one spot goes to the best team in college basketball, which is based on the regular season and conference tournament performance.

The 2022 March Madness kicks off with the first four games at UD Arena on the campus of the University of Dayton in Ohio and ends with the Final Four in Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Unlike last year when the entire tournament was held in Indiana, fans are excited for the return to a bit of normalcy since the beginning of the pandemic. The date and location is laid out for each tournament, and you can view the full schedule here.

You can catch the tournaments on CBS and Turner Sports stations (TBS, TNT and truTV), as they are splitting broadcast duties.
